Engineer-Technician - Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 
Support Eaton's EHS management program in our manufacturing facilities and offices. Coordinate activities related to the environment, Health and Safety Program that includes: monitoring of recycling activities, waste management and chemical management according to the laws and regulations that govern us. Maintain metrics for disposal of waste, energy and water consumption. Support the creation of a strong culture committing all partners to achieve the zero accident company's goals. Participating in initiatives that improve the quality of life of the community and comply with regulatory inspections through the facility for continuous improvement of the EHS program.  

II. POSITION COMPETENCES: 

  • Support the EHS Manager in implementing the corporate EHS program in all departments.
  • Assist in the identification, communication and control of environmental aspects and safety and health risks, in conjunction with the Safety Committee and the EHS Manager related to our products, processes and services.
  • Update EHS metrics on a monthly basis by working with data controllers to have them on time and submit reports to regulatory agencies. Keeping it up to date on our corporate MESH Suite program.
  • Assist the EHS Manager to perform risk analysis on tasks and ergonomic analysis of processes and workstations, including non-routine tasks.
  • Assist in the evaluation of EHS for new processes and equipment.
  • Assist Supervisors in reporting incidents and investigations. Follow up on the specific corrective actions defined for those reports through the MESH Suite program and close them within a reasonable period of time.
  • Conduct monthly inspections and annual assessments, as required.
  • Monitor the generation of waste to establish the appropriate disposal or recycling method to comply with the company's program and submit compliance reports.
  • Comply with EHS policy.
  • Use the corresponding safety equipment in the different areas.
  • Maintain the labeling program for chemical containers.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Keep up-to-date assigned documents and reports.
  • Participate in external audits sponsored by the corporation.
  • Support, develop, coordinate, provide and maintain the process of regulatory training to the entire population.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Associate in Environmental Sciences or Engineering (preferably in Chemistry or Environmental).
  • Experience: Minimum (1) year of previous experience in a similar or directly related position.
     
  QUALITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION: 

  • Leadership.
  • Good communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and under pressure.
  • Good math skills and computer use.
