Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Analyst

The Senior EHS Analyst is responsible for supporting or directing environmental, health, safety, and security (EHS&S) activities at the site.  This individual is accountable for supporting or directing EHS&S activities at the site, including: establishing EHS&S objectives / targets; internal reporting of EHS&S performance; communication of national, regional, and local regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for: supporting site ISO/OHSAS certifications; assuring accurate and complete EHS&S reporting of metrics and regulatory recordkeeping requirements; assuring closure of MESH and regulatory agency findings on a timely basis; completion of required training for EHS&S personnel; supporting actions during crises; supporting site security, and; supporting the creation of a strong EHS culture that engages employees throughout the site.
 
Essential Functions of the Role:

  • Supports site in achieving EHS&S targets & objectives. Supports development, maintenance, and achievement of goals set forth by corporate and business group EHS&S strategic initiatives.
  • Supports or directs risk assessment at the location to identify critical EHS&S hazards and aspects.
  • Supports tracking of appropriate leading / lagging indicators to measure EHS&S performance.  Works with EHS&S & leadership teams to create targets / objectives based on key EHS&S risks.
  • Helps create leading / lagging indicators to track performance against targets / objectives.
  • Supports creation of EHS&S goals for the site manager and appropriate activity based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive EHS&S culture, compliance, and results.
  • Supports MESH element champions and facilitate their engagement in ownership of the MESH elements.
  • Supports and promotes zero incident EHS&S culture throughout site.
  • Supports EHS&S engagement through EHS&S teams and committees, or relevant Kaizen events, needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year. 
  • Works with EHS leader and MESH element champions to complete an annual evaluation of compliance for EHS&S country, state, and local regulations.  
  • Create training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion
  • Supports efforts to ensure that all key EHS&S operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.

  • Comprehension of Eaton, industry, state, and country EHS&S requirements.
  • Strong team-building skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Adept at utilization of company-wide system for reporting EHS&S data and information
  • Ability to demonstrate managerial courage (e.g., managing varied interests representing potential conflicts)
  • Ability to lead and support cross-functional EHS&S teams
  • Understands OSHA and EPA regulations

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee
  • Must reside within a 50 mile radius of the plant. No relocation offered.
 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety or Environmental Management from an accredited institution
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Graduate Safety Professional (GSP)
  • Experience with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance
  • Experience working within a unionized facility
  • Understanding of ISO 14001 standards and internal auditor
  • Demonstrated experience with safety programs
  • Proven track record of safety metric performance and improvement
  • Lean Fundamentals understanding
  • Experience with workers compensation
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
