Corporate Safety Director [TN-11681]

A specialist utilities contractor based in the Washington, D.C. area is looking for a Corporate Safety Director to join their team. With almost 90 years of history, this company has built a solid reputation as a leader in the industry, working with utilities providers on projects across the country and employing a workforce of roughly 250 skilled and corporate team members. 

The business works in partnership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) to deliver an array of specialized services in underground transmission and distribution cable systems, overhead distribution, substations, and communications.

A successful candidate will be responsible of the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the safety department with principal focus on the company's safety culture, performance and compliance.

The Role:

  • Collaborate with the corporate management team to develop, implement and manage safety programs across the business
  • Perform regular trainings, inspections and audits to ensure both employees and subcontractors are remaining in compliance with company programs and OSHA regulations
  • Provide emergency preparedness training and drills to ensure employees can perform their assigned roles when called upon during major outage restoration events
  • Investigate and acquire appropriate PPE, managing the ongoing testing and associated documentation of this equipment
  • Actively participate in weekly and monthly safety meetings with clients and internal customers

 

The Candidate:

  • Experience of managing safety programs within the Transmission & Distribution sector
  • Bachelor's degree in safety or related field
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
  • Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) preferred
