Position Summary:
The Environmental Engineer is accountable for driving results in a fast-paced environment by managing of all environmental programs at Alcami based on federal, state, local and internal regulations and rules. This includes but not limited to EPA, DNR, Village of Germantown and Alcami policies and procedures. Technical expert and primary responsible for ensuring compliance with the environmental compliance programs for the facility including synthetic minor Air Permit, NPDES Permit, Stormwater Discharge Permit, SPCC plan, and RCRA Program.The position requires superior leadership behaviors of the Alcami core competencies and non-negotiables, as well as expertise in functional competencies included in this position profile. 

Essential Functions:

  • Provides guidance for Federal EPA, State and Local Environmental regulations. Employee will interact with representatives from these agencies on audits and regulatory inquiries.
  • Manages and completes permit compliance submittals, including air emission Reporting, NPDES Stormwater Reporting, RCRA Biannual Reporting, Tier II EPCRA/SARA Reporting, TRI Reporting and any other requested Environmental Data reports.
  • Manages all current Alcami environmental programs, permits and plans.
  • Ensures compliant operations of the 90-day hazardous waste storage areas, satellite waste accumulation areas and waste labeling requirements.
  • Reviews all new Environmental regulations for applicability to the facility. Employee will present any upcoming legislation to management to develop a plan to ensure facility will be in compliance.
  • Leads recycling efforts to improve recycling, identify outlets for new recyclable material, and reduce landfilled material.
  • Reviews and amends Environmental Compliance Plans including, SPCC, SWPPP, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan, Waste Minimization Plan, etc.
  • Provides engineering support to EHS.
  • Provides project management support to EHS if applicable.
  • Ensures timely completion and compliance with cGMP and all other relevant company training requirements.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or equivalent field.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of work experience in an environmental capacity preferable in pharmaceutical manufacturing facility or other highly regulated facility.

Functional Competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience in obtaining, maintaining (developing air emission inventories, and managing compliance with Title-V or Synthetic Minor source air permit requirements) and amending Air Permits for state and federal air programs.
  • Good working knowledge and experience in storm water, wastewater and Spill prevention programs.

  • Proficiency with MS Office including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint plus the ability to quickly adapt to new technology.

Travel Requirements: Up to 5% travel required.

The noise level is moderate to noisy. Occasionally, employee may be exposed to airborne particles and fumes. Occasionally, employee may be exposed to chemicals. Must have the ability to wear PPE as required. Employee occasionally may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration.
