Position Description:
The Vicksburg, Miss. Mill is a fully integrated pulp and paper manufacturing facility.  The mill includes multiple process lines of wood handling, pulping, paper machine, power and recovery boilers, and effluent treatment.  The Environmental Engineer position is responsible for supporting the mill’s environmental compliance assurance programs. 

This position reports to the Environmental Manager and is responsible for supporting, developing and administering the facility Environmental processes, programs, and leadership as well as assuring our compliance with Local, State and Federal requirements and Laws. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive Safety Leadership, Safety Improvements within the EHS Department
  • Support the Air Compliance Program
  • Manage the NPDES Compliance Program
  • Manage the Solid Waste/Hazardous Waste Compliance Program
  • Manage the Stormwater and Spill Prevention Programs
  • Assist with permitting requirements
  • Interact with and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies including MDEQ and EPA Region 4.
  • Contribute to the development of Environmental Management System procedures for water, air, and solid/hazardous waste.
  • Serve on community and environmental committees
  • Conduct environmental training for all mill members
  • Other duties as assigned

  • B.S. Degree in Environmental or Chemical engineering or related technical field
  • 3-5 years of experience in the area of environmental compliance is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and how to apply
  • Demonstrated track record of success in working in a team environment with focus on results, safety, and ability to solve problems
  • Oral and Written Communication Skills
