Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator

Role   Purpose: 
To   plan, develop, co-ordinate, implement, monitor, modify and maintain records, processes and systems sufficient to satisfy legal, group and business needs with regard to health, safety, and environmental matters.

These responsibilities require management of the respective disciplines, planning and implementation; and technical assistance. The role will Coach and influence plant leadership and employees to implement and support a healthy, safe and sustainable business.

Key   Responsibilities:

  • Support a safe working environment, considering both GKN Wheels Armstrong and GKN Wheels and Structures   procedures and current legislation
  • Advise plant leadership of Wheels and Structures EHS standards, initiatives and requirements, review implications and ensure update of processes, procedures or work instructions as appropriate
  • Maintain adherence to international EHS Standards (ISO 14001:2015, OSHAS 18001 & ISO 45001)
  • Report on all monthly EHS performance KPI’s and ensure reporting is completed on time in line with Plant and Divisional requirements
  • Support the development and implementation of behavioural safety programmes to create a culture change at   operational and leadership levels within the organisation
  • Support on GKN Wheels and Structures divisional and site based EHS projects
  • Ensure completion of all EHS business Risk assessments and develop risk reduction programs by collaboration with   employees and supervisors as necessary
  • Assist in performing risk profiling in safety and environmental disciplines and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken
  • Maintain relationships and liaise with external authorities as required
  • Manage auditing of plants EHS systems and processes
  • Investigate and report on all serious EHS incidents onsite and evaluate accident statistics to provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Support the identification of knowledge gaps and ensure provision of health, safety and environmental training to   employees, including induction for new employees and continued training for new employees
  • Assess and mange site key EHS related risk with the long-term objective to eliminate hazards
  • Compiles reports required by enforcing authorities, group and business.
  • Helps to lead response teams for critical/serious incidents
  • Support the compliance of landfill disposal waste, HAZMAT reporting, storage and disposal, wastewater management, and asset recovery programs.

 

Qualifications,   Skills and Experience:

  •   Education 2-4 years in a related field .  
  •   Relevant experience in safety/environmental field.
  •   Knowledge of current safety and environmental regulations.
  •   Ability to interact with persons of all levels.
  •   Experience of continuous improvement practices.
  •   Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  •   Audit experience in Safety/Environmental disciplines would be desirable
  •   Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
