Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer


The site EHS Engineer will be responsible for executing company safety policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations.  By leveraging lean principles, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our employees.  A successful site EHS Engineer will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Teams and inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. 

The site EHS Engineer must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing.  You will instruct and train Operations Leaders in safety and environmental policies and assist the operations in incorporating our safety and environmental standards in the work place.  

You will work to identify best practices and incorporate these standard methodologies into our standards to continuously improve the EHS landscape.   The site EHS Engineer will possess excellent safety program knowledge as well as environmental and ergonomic knowledge and be able demonstrate this expertise when working with Operations.


  • Develop, implement and manage safety programs.
  • Perform frequent site safety audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site.  Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injuries.
  • Organize and oversee all required safety training in order to ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy.  Audit the quality, delivery (including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of all required safety training. 
  • Provide safety orientation to new employees.
  • Investigate and prepare presentations for all incidents and property losses and monthly/annual summaries.
  • Conduct Management of change on new equipment and environmental impacts.
  • Track training to ensure compliance with Corporate Regulatory Task Schedule.
  • Identify gaps in training curriculum by analyzing injury/illness data.
  • Assist inspection personnel from insurance carriers, OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.
  • Manage all federal, state and local environmental permits and ensure compliance.
  • Assist in purchasing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain accurate EHS data including timely maintenance of OSHA 300 log, workman’s comp and SDS sheets.
  • Lead the development of a robust safety culture through championship of the safety committee and serving as a site safety mentor for visitors and all employees.
  • Perform any other duties established by Regional EHS Director.



  • Champions the maintenance of a clean and healthy working environment at Munters, communicating standards across the organization
  • Builds relationships with health and safety officials to work in partnership to achieve and exceed health and safety standards
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety practices and procedures, identifying areas of concern within current safety practices and introduces new policies to minimize risk and reduce consequences
  • Disseminates information of relevance to promote sound environmental, health and safety practices



  • Education: BS Degree in Industrial Safety Management or Safety, Environmental, ergonomics or related field required.
  • Preferred WCM or Certified Safety Professional and Continued improvement experience.
  • Years of experience: 3 plus years of growing responsibility in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.   
  • Experience or exposure to lean concepts
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction and strategy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and the use of pivot tables and the development of charts and graphics.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ISO, and other government regulations.
  • Must be flexible regarding shifts
  • Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies.
