Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Job Purpose:
This position will manage the site's environmental program to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local environmental laws. EH&S Manager will oversee the maintenance and enhancement of a comprehensive safety, health and environmental program with the goal of reducing work related accidents and injuries and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Reports to: Plant Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive and productive relationships focused on growing an A-Gas Safety culture with all levels of staff.
  • Daily physical plant inspections for compliance in PPE, unsatisfactory work conditions and proactively looking for safety non-conformances.
  • Review and update compliance strategies for regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Educate and develop a culture that encourages Near-Miss submittals, incident reporting and ensures a timely and appropriate response to reports.
  • Develop and administer training for workers on a monthly and annual required training.
  • Performs accident investigations to determine immediate cause as well as root cause; implements changes to correct and prevent reoccurrence.
    o Develop and create job safety work instructions for Operational Safe-Work Practices. 
  • Analyze risk, trends, and countermeasures to internal and external risk.
  • Identify and implement tools, methods and indicators to support and measure compliance with policies and progress to objectives. Perform regulatory assessments and audits of facilities and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Complies all data related to EPA reporting and ensures all reports are timely submitted. 
  • Lead by example and portray company Zero Harm policies.
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Occupational, or Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Previous experience managing EHS required.  Experience of working in operational/chemical processing environment preferred. 
  • High proficiency in MOC, Near Miss and accident investigation, OSHA required training, and Hazwopper are essential ISO 14001 certification and maintenance experience a must.
  • A sound understanding of and experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must possess a working knowledge and understanding of DOT, OSHA EPA
  • An excellent understanding of the pressurized equipment directive and its requirements is desirable.
  • Waste management training preferred.
  • Experience working within the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning industry, refrigerant or Fire Protection industry preferred.
