Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Eaton Corporation’s Aerospace Group, has an opening for an EHS Manager. The position is located at our Torrance, CA facility.

The EHS Manager will provide environmental, health, safety, and security leadership for  all employees and groups sitting in the Torrance manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for: maintaining all aspects of the site’s EHS responsibilities; assuring accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics; assuring closure of MESH (Management System for the Environment, Safety, Security, and Health) and regulatory agency findings on a timely basis; managing interfaces with the public and governmental authorities with adverse findings and enforcement actions; directing actions during crises; site security, facility management, creating a strong EHS zero incident culture that engages employees throughout the site in EHS teams and processes.

  • You will Manage and direct site in achieving EHS targets & objectives. Direct development, maintenance, and achievement of goals in support of corporate and business group EHS strategic initiatives.
  • You will facilitate risk assessment at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects. Work with leadership team to create targets and objectives based on key EHS risks.
  • You will determine appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives.
  • You will support creation of EHS goals for the site manager and appropriate activity based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.
  • You will drives and promotes zero incident EHS culture throughout site. Create and facilitate EHS engagement through EHS employee teams and committees needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year.
  • You will works to assign MESH (Management System for the Environment, Safety, Security, and Health) element champions and facilitate their engagement in ownership of the elements.
  • You will works with leadership team and MESH (Management System for the Environment, Safety, Security, and Health) element champions to complete an annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state, and local regulations. 
  • You will pursues third party recognition for programs that establish the site and Eaton’s EHS program as world class.
  • You will create training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion. Work with site leadership team and facilities to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place,  and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.
  • You will manage facility maintenance program for the site with 1 direct report (Maintenance tech).

Required (Basic) Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Environmental Science from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience managing EHS processes and facility management
  • Minimum 1 year of Electrical safety experience
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of ISO standards, industry regulations / processes related to EHS (e.g. OSHA, ISO 14001, MESH, etc.)
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MESH (Management System for the Environment, Safety, Security, and Health), OSHA & EPA regulations.
  • Experience in ISO certified Manufacturing assembly environment.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing (total Productive Maintenance).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Professional certification Thorough knowledge of electrical safety
  • Knowledge of ISO/ASQ 9000 internal auditor
  • Working knowledge and experience with California state requirements, SCAQMD, LA County Sanitation, and local regulation
