The Complex Environmental Health & Safety Manager will coordinate all aspects of safety and environmental processes.  Develop implements and maintains effective systems, procedures and training to achieve and maintain an accident free, injury free, and healthy work environment. Complex EHS Manager will integrate continual environmental, health and safety improvements and employee diligence into the daily operations.  Work with complex lead team to develop site specific annual objectives for safety, environmental, industrial hygiene and worker's compensation improvements that support these goals, policies and statements.  Maintain all recordkeeping for these programs. This position be part of the Complex Lead team and will work closely with all functional areas to ensure that all processes are understood and effectively executed.  Effectiveness in this position will require leadership of employees to maintain facility compliance. 

Key Functions

  • Responsible for safety and environmental compliance with all company, local, state, and federal requirements; develop and maintain audits and recordkeeping systems to demonstrate compliance with all requirements.
  • Provide leadership in developing, implementing and managing safety policies, procedures and practices
  • Coach facility management in becoming strong leaders in (1) accident prevention, (2) safe work practices and (3) environmental compliance.
  • Manage and coordinate multiple aspects of the safety program while revitalizing the emphasis on safety;
  • drive a culture of best practice standardization and develop effective communication processes to make safety priorities and performance visible. 
  • Lead robust incident investigations with effective problem solving and diligent follow up.
  • Develop and oversee training and inspection processes for all safety and environmental programs.
  • Coordinate communication and follow up of IP Alerts and Communiqués.
  • Act as the point of contact for all scheduled agency inspections. Actively participate in internal and external discussions and meetings, with auditors, agencies, consultants & EHS corporate staff.
  • Participate in corporate sponsored audits and conduct compliance reviews with facility management.
  • Develop and maintain good relations with corporate staff, local and state agencies.
  • Review capital projects for safety and environmental impacts and permitting requirements; provide management with details of permit requirements and timelines.


  • Strong ethics and values.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3 to 5 years of operational experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to travel regularly to two manufacturing sites.
  • Excellent communication skills (listening, writing, and speaking) required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage through others.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively lead and participate in project teams and team development.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, problem solve, and make decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical aspects of manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory documents, and translate them for others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Strong organization skills particularly in managing multiple tasks and prioritization
  • Excellent attention to detail and the capability to analyze data and draw conclusions.
  • Strong computer literacy (MS Office) with emphasis in spreadsheet software.
