Health, Safety & Environmental (EHS) Manager

The HSE Manager will champion a strategy to drive cultural transformation and influence strategic initiatives to create safe decisions and actions with the goal of zero injuries.  Responsibilities include providing direction in achieving the company’s safety & health goals and processing safety visions through management commitment and employee ownership.  The HSE Manager will also ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations, as well as Occupational Safety and Health Administration, DOD and BATFE requirements for explosives.


  • Develop, implement and manage the company’s ISO 45001 program as it relates to environment, health and safety.
  • Drive safety culture transformation and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and/or facilitate the leadership of incident investigations, along with oversight to assure recommendations are effective and completed to prevent recurrence
  • Lead the development of risk assessment methods/systems for anticipating, identifying and evaluating hazards
  • Oversee evaluation, interpretation and compliance with state and federal regulations and permits
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP requirements for the covered process, as well as promote the use of process safety principles throughout the plant to reduce risk to our employees, our environment, and our community.
  • Lead and/or facilitate the leadership of Process Hazards Analyses (PHA) for processes involving highly hazardous chemicals.
  • Facilitate and represent the facility during agency inspections.
  • Assist in managing the worker’s compensation insurance policy and program.



  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and kneel.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop or crawl.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodation.



  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or related field.
  • Language Skills:  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers and individual employees
  • Reasoning Ability:  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form



  • Five (5) or more years of supervisory experience in a Safety & Health leadership role
  • Five (5) or more years of occupational and process safety experience in an industrial, chemical process or manufacturing environment
  • Experience and working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Familiarity with report writing



  • Environmental Health and Safety training on proper use of PPE and all company Environmental, Health and Safety policies
  • 49 CFR (DOT HazMat) training; provided on the job.
  • Other as required and/or necessary.
