Process Safety Engineer

Process Safety Engineering opportunity with a global chemical company with sales of ~$60BB and 68 sites worldwide, along with 16,000 employees.

Excellent work culture and team-based environment. This position will report to the EH&S Manager. This position is based at the corporate office in the League City, TX area and will support a local polymer plant site. This individual will lead and support PHA’s, LOPA studies, MOC process, as well as Capital Project Risk Assessments.   • BS Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or directly related Technical degree;
  • 5+ Years of Process Safety Engineering experience within the chemical or petrochemical industry preferred.

Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Lead and support PHA’s, LOPA’s, MOC process, and Capital Project Risk Assessments
  • Facilitate PHA’s and LOPA’s for internal and external regulatory schedule requirements
  • Support Project Managers and site teams to deliver risk assessments
  • Work with PSM Coordinators, PSM Advisers, and SIS Engineering Authorities to ensure effectiveness and consistency in PHA and LOPA documentation
  • Assist sites addressing needs for SIS documentation supporting SIL analysis and Functional Safety Assessments
  • Support Management of Change program by participating in the gate keeping, approval process and identification/resolution of opportunities for improvement
  • Support Facility Siting evaluations for temporary buildings and site study enhancements
  • Participate in Process Safety Committee and VPP initiatives
  • Provide support for the Safety, Health, and Environmental areas such as personal safety and emergency preparedness as needed
