The Manager, Safety will play a critical role in delivering on our vision to create a healthy workforce that is Safe, Secure and Prepared. They will lead and manage a team of professionals who serve as subject matter experts on operational initiatives or committees and are responsible for PGE’s safety function in providing support and services to employees, vendors, contingent workers, contractors and the general public; oversees development and implementation of health and/or safety programs to safeguard the interests of the PGE workforce and the general public; drives accountability of other departments in complying with safety standards and requirements; ensures operational issues are identified and resolved; monitors performance, motivates employees and provides coaching and feedback; oversees safety process improvement.

In this role, the Manager, Safety, monitors operational compliance with safety and health laws, regulations and standards; oversees cost/benefit analyses and directs team in providing creative safe, cost-effective solutions to operational issues; establishes policies and directs implementation of associated activities, including audits or evaluations; oversees staff in monitoring emerging legislation and developing proactive solutions to ensure compliance; ensures staff maintains current expertise in safety best practices and emerging trends; collaborate with operational leaders to ensure designated operational safety experts align goals and initiatives to enterprise-wide safety strategy.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, psychology, sociology, finance, human resources, engineering, safety or other related field or equivalent experience.

Prefer eight or more years in in safety, health or related field with three or more years of management.

Certifications, Licenses and Training      
Safety and/or health certification preferred, e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Construction Safety & Health Technician (CHST), Occupational Health & Safety Technologist (OHST), Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS), Certificate in Industrial Hygiene (CIH)
