Safety Specialist

From its world-class manufacturing facility in Longview WA., NORPAC delivers abroad range of high-quality papers to customers across the United States and aroundthe world. NORPAC makes environmentally conscious packaging paper, copy paperand printing paper grades.

NORPAC is looking for an experienced Safety Professional.

The Safety Professional is responsible for all aspects of the safety function to include: OSHA, L&I reporting and compliance, management and optimization of all safety programs and policies. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and strong leadership skills.  Must have the ability to support and lead a world class, actively caring safety culture. The successful candidate must have a BS/BA in Industrial Hygiene or related field or equivalent work experience. Safety experience in a heavy industrial facility is strongly preferred.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for OSHA, L&I regulation review, development and compliance
  • Provide a lead role in the development, implementation and management of safety strategies and goals for mill
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits and inspections to ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations
  • Works collaboratively across the organization at all levels to mentor, coach, guide and model best safety practices. Reinforce world class safety culture development processes
  • Plans, implements, and ensures delivery of preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs
  • Provide technical safety support as needed
  • Ensure timely and accuracy of all required reporting including but not limited to OSHA 300 annual log and reporting
  • Review, edit, optimize as needed all safety policies and programs
  • Investigate accidents and train leaders how to properly investigate and follow up on safety incidents
  • Oversee safety reports, data and statistics and communicate to all levels of the organization
  • Model, support and drive our actively caring safety culture

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • BS/BA degree Industrial Hygiene or related field and/or equivalent education/experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of Safety Management related work experience
  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment
  • Risk assessment/management
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines
  • Detail oriented and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong team-based and change management skills
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and mentoring skills

Safety experience in a heavy industrial environment
 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified in risk management and health/safety management
