Safety Professional

Darigold has an opportunity for an energetic and motivated Safety Professional to drive a culture change, champion employee engagement and risk reduction at our Sunnyside, WA site.

Leverage your strong technical, strategic, organizational, and communications skills to build and sustain a safety culture that promotes a safe and healthy work environment and strives for excellence. The Safety Professional works closely with the Sunnyside Site Director and corporate leadership to effectively coordinate and implement critical safety programs to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, guidelines, expectations, and Darigold’s policies. This position is instrumental in responding to all safety incidents and operational upsets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned): 

  • Embody a safety culture to change behavior and drive change across the Sunnyside site
  • Spearhead the risk management process to systematically identify hazards, assess risks, and drive execution of corrective actions
  • Lead incident investigations to determine root cause and ensure corrective actions are implemented and documented
  • Partner with site leadership to establish goals, metrics, and priorities for safety
  • Manage the Safety KPIs and other trends to identify areas where we can continue to account for and mitigate risks and drive safety
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, summarizing data and present recommended next steps
  • Lead the effective management, motivation, and training of safety topics
  • Respond and provide guidance for all emergency situations
  • Sponsor and support the Darigold Performance System Safety Pillar
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and practices and remain apprised of industry standards, technology, developments, and regulatory changes
     

Education, Experience and Certifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Health and Safety, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related field. Combination of associate degree and directly related Safety compliance experience may be considered. Other degree and/or experience combinations may also be considered 
  • Project Management skills 
  • 2 to 3 years of directly related experience in Safety; Food & beverage industry experience a plus
