Senior EHS Professional - Environmental Air Permitting

Senior EHS Professional with New Jersey Air Permitting Subject Matter Expertise

Projects and areas of company expertise include: environmental, health & safety compliance; EHS auditing; industrial hygiene; stormwater/wastewater permitting and reporting; hazardous materials and waste; air quality management; spill prevention planning; health & safety programs and training; agency negotiation; AST/UST compliance and integrity testing; remediation oversight; product regulatory (SDS authoring and TSCA compliance).

Submission Details, Skills, & Experience:

  • **MUST submit a cover letter addressing 3 items: 1) Salary Requirement, 2) Level of expertise with New Jersey air permitting, and 3) Proximity to New Providence, NJ.
  • 10 years of experience working with RADIUS and other New Jersey air permit tools.
  • Proven experience with developing strategies to creatively obtain air permit approvals within the Bureau of Stationary Sources (NJDEP Air Quality Permitting Program).
  • Pace of the work is faster than average, yet timeliness and quality of results are not compromised.
  • An active, positive response to a variety of challenges is required.
  • Requires quick decision-making, based on known information and an intention to reduce risk factors as much as possible for both Baron and Baron’s clients.
  • Careful, critical analysis of new ideas or innovations is important to assure any changes both align with and support established practices.
  • Communication must be factual, focused on continual problem solving within cross-functional teams. Experience using Scrum or other Agile framework is preferred.
  • It is important that job related knowledge and responsibilities be learned and mastered quickly and thoroughly.

Necessary qualities for successful job performance include:

  • Taking responsibility for assuring agency rules & regulations are correctly followed.

MUST provide all three (3) items within a cover letter to be considered:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • ‪Develop air permit strategies to creatively navigate the NJDEP review process for a wide variety of Emission Unit and Batch operations.
  • ‪Audit all sites for compliance as the lead “air quality” auditor, among other EHS programs.
  • Assess and actively address requirements within N.J.A.C. 7:27 Subchapters 4, 6, 8, 9, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, and 22, NSPS, NESHAP/MACT and others, on a regular basis.
  • ‪Calculate environmental releases (air emissions, water discharges, hazardous waste, etc), assess control technologies, document information in accordance with regulations.
  • ‪Conduct EHS permitting and reporting tasks.
  • ‪Supervise project teams and review/oversee project work.
  • Effectively manage multiple EHS projects (preferably someone that has managed projects using a Scrum process framework or using agile methodologies).
  • ‪Maintain a balance, focusing on technical work and company profitability.
  • ‪Prepare client proposals.
