Site Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Compliance Engineer

Moog is looking for a Site EHS Compliance Engineer to implement and manage EHS programs at our aerospace manufacturing plant in Chatsworth, CA.  This role offers the opportunity to have an impact on Environmental, Health and Safety at a global company.  If you are a hands-on Sr. EHS professional who wants to make a difference, we invite you to apply.   

Moog Chatsworth Operations produces mechanisms for spacecraft motion control with design and flight heritage expanding over 45 years. With origins from historic programs such as Apollo and Pioneer to present-day satellite programs, Moog brings heritage-based solutions to spacecraft mechanisms technology. The spacecraft mechanisms facility in Chatsworth, California includes a fully-integrated engineering/design, manufacturing and test capability.  Moog spacecraft products are flexible to meet customer requirements for a wide breadth of applications ranging from commercial to government flight programs.


As a Site EHS Compliance Engineer, you will…

  • Manage and assure that Federal and State EHS regulations applicable to the site are met.
  • Review and interpretation of regulations impacting the site and propose options that will assist with the creation and implementation of compliant processes and procedures.
  • Develop, manage and implement site-specific EHS policies and training programs to assure compliance with the Site, Business Group and Corporate EHS requirements.  Safety programs may include Lockout Tagout, confined space, PPE, machine guarding and arc flash/hazardous energy control.  Environmental programs may include the collection and calculation of all environmental data; create, finalize and submit regulatory reports; monitor process owners to ensure the compliance procedures associated with regulatory reports are being implemented and maintained.  Example data: biological, radiation, chemical, noise, exhaust systems, emissions, waste characteristics, etc.
  • Arranges for and ensures the precise collection and calculation of all EHS data across operations and creation, finalization and submittal of regulatory reports, as needed. Monitor process owners to assure the compliance procedures associated with afore mentioned reports are implemented and maintained.
  • Implement, complete and take action to help ensure regulatory permit requirements, reporting data and management systems are continuously monitored and updated as changes occur at the site to maintain compliance.  Participates in the use and management of internal audit systems.
  • Create, maintain and deliver the regulatory training programs to assure employees, contractors and visitors are trained in required practices.  Lead role in external government agency audits and follows up on concerns identified during audits.
  • Coordinate and manage the Sites’ emergency planning; including being available 24/7 for responding to site EHS emergencies. This includes being the site’s lead emergency coordinator in emergencies involving hazardous materials releases or other safety impacting emergencies.
  • Provide EHS support to Program Management and Engineering as required to support customer contract terms and conditions. Tasks may require creation of additional program specific hazardous materials management programs or implementation of industry specific certification programs.
  • Partner with all functional managers /supervisors on site to plan and implement regulatory requirements, and provide the employees/supervisors guidance that will develop compliant solutions, new techniques and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Partner with Regional EHS Manager to align on priorities and develop annual strategies to reduce risk at the site.


 Minimum Qualifications to be considered… 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, EHS, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience implementing and managing EHS programs
  • Proven experience with responding to, cleaning and reporting chemical spills.
  • Ability to identify hazards and assess risk.
  • Experience in incident management and the able to lead root cause analysis.
  • Experience with performing compliance audits and the ability to prioritize findings,
  • Experience with creating and training employees in regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to influence and be a change agent
  • You will need project management skills and assure high work standards for project success.
